Do you use Miro for simple drawings or team-building activities?

Confluence Whiteboards works just as well—or even better—for your needs. Furthermore, Whiteboards is a feature in Confluence that can replace Miro in many cases!

If you are new to these tools, think of it as an infinite board where you write on sticky notes and move them around. Additionally, you can zoom in and out to fit your content.

Imagine a physical workshop where your team writes ideas on notes, discusses them, and votes on priorities. Alternatively, perhaps you map out a timeline to visualize your next steps. When a physical workshop ends, someone must manually document the results.

With Whiteboards, you do this digitally. When your workshop ends, the results are already in Confluence. We use Whiteboards for retrospectives, collaboration, brainstorming, and visualizing processes. Moreover, multiple people can work simultaneously, and it integrates seamlessly with Jira. As a result, you can even convert sticky notes into Jira issues directly from the board.

Recently, several key features have arrived. You now have voting, author credits on notes, anonymous options, freehand drawing, and smart connectors. With Atlassian Rovo, you can instantly summarize notes into a Confluence page and generate action points for your team.

You can choose from many templates or start from scratch. We encourage you to explore—the possibilities are endless. Simply create a new page in Confluence and select “Whiteboard”. Whiteboards are available to everyone with a Confluence license.

Confluence Whiteboard: Because simplicity is key

Miro is a good tool with many features, but for your daily team activities, it can feel overwhelming. Many of its functions go unused, making it harder for new users to get started.

We see that many struggle with navigation in Miro. You often need to know exactly which board a piece of information lives on. Miro also creates a “data silo”.

By using Confluence, you keep all information in one place. Your organization gets:

  • Seamless flow: AI tools like Atlassian Rovo access Whiteboards without extra integrations.
  • Easier management: It simplifies your IT and license administration.
  • Full visibility: Access works just like your other Confluence spaces and pages.
  • Better search: You find your content easily through the standard Confluence search.
  • Direct action: You create Jira tasks directly from a sticky note.
  • Whiteboards are included in all Confluence plans at no extra cost. Premium plans offer unlimited boards, while Free and Standard plans allow up to three active boards per user.
