What’s new in the Atlassian universe this May? Here’s a concise summary of the most important updates – from security bulletins and AI advancements to pricing changes and product updates in Atlassian Cloud.

App-related updates
1. Critical security update: 8 high-severity vulnerabilities
Atlassian has released a new Security Bulletin addressing eight high-severity vulnerabilities, all of which have been resolved in recent product versions. Atlassian strongly recommends updating to the latest versions to ensure your instances remain secure.
2. “Maximum Quantity Billing” launching in October
Atlassian has announced a new pricing model called maximum quantity billing, coming into effect for selected monthly subscriptions from October 2025. Billing will be based on the peak number of users during a billing cycle – not the average.

3. From products to apps
As announced at Team ’25, Atlassian has started rolling out a terminology shift: what were previously called “products” are now referred to as “apps”. This change will be reflected in the admin console, documentation, audit logs, and URLs. It won’t affect how you manage tools like Jira or Confluence but signals a more unified platform approach.
4. Smarter Jira: Update status from Smart Link view
A new feature now allows users to update the status of Jira issues directly from the Smart Link list view – no need to open the issue. This enhancement improves collaboration and saves time, especially for larger teams or parallel projects.
5. SCIM API keys will expire
As of April 2025, Atlassian has started setting expiration dates on older SCIM API keys (created before January 2025). The goal is to increase security and reduce the risk of compromised keys. No immediate action is required, but we recommend planning for key rotation.
6. Update webhook rules by May 30, 2025
Atlassian reminds users that all automation rules using an incoming webhook trigger must be updated by May 30, 2025. These rules must be rerouted through a new, more secure endpoint.
If your rules were created before January 28, 2025 and still use the legacy endpoint, you must update your connected applications accordingly. If not updated in time, these rules will stop functioning once legacy webhook support is turned off.
We recommend reviewing your existing rules and following Atlassian’s migration steps – or reaching out to Computas Opus for support.
